In 2004, Julius Schwartz passed away having left his mark in the classics of comics. Many times, he would come up with a cover idea and let them inspire writers in need of story ideas. DC chose to celebrate the legacy of Julie by letting new artists and writers come up with new renditions of these classic tales.

Adam Hughes takes a shot at Superman #264’ s cover originally done by Nick Cardy. Stan Lee, Darwyn Cooke, and J. Bone give us their version of “The Phantom Quarterback” while Paul Levitz and Keith Griffen tackle a retelling of Cary Bates “Secret of the Phantom Quarterback” with a few familiar characters. The obituary at the end is by Alan Moore.
