True Swamp is the critically acclaimed work of Jon Lewis at Peristaltic Press. It centers around the lives of Lenny the “leaf frog” and other residents of a mythical swamp. Like the rest of us, the swamp-dwellers worry about staying alive, finding enough to eat, and relationships with the opposite sex. Unlike most of us, finding out how to look poisonous is hailed as a medical breakthrough, and “agitism” (the practice of only eating that which moves) is given the status of religion.

True Swamp has many of the hallmarks of a great underground comic: it’s irreverent, a bit shocking, and makes the reader think about life from a whole different perspective. That the main characters are swamp animals only makes it that much more effective in accomplishing these goals.
