I have been collecting since 1971 when I received comics such as Superman, Turok, Mickey Mouse, and others. In 1972, a family friend gave me his collection of nearly every DC superhero comic back to 1962. I am here purely because I love comics and need a place to sell duplicates from my collection. All my comic boxes are dyed black.
Let's face it, grading has changed through the years. When I was a kid it was either "new" or "I've read that several times" and then there was "at least there is nothing stuck to it." It's not that simple anymore. We all change through the years to more accurately reflect grading practices and preferences for collectors. Bottom line, I want to correctly communicate to a buyer what to expect for the condition. So I follow the ten point system you're probably used to by now, such as Good (2.0), Very Good (4.0), Fine (6.0), Very Fine (8.0) and Near Mint (9.4). I do not consider grading a matter of opinion or subjective--there is a concrete way of getting to a grade. You can read more about that on Atomic Avenue at https://atomicavenue.com/atomic/Help/GradingGuide.aspx
Located in Western Washington, I started selling my first my extra comics in 1986. You can contact me at ctgarry@blackboxcomics.com.
