The warriors of Nara retained their honor through the centuries, and never succumbed to the seductions of politics and power. But today, even the most honorable individuals sometimes have to make compromises. For the sake of vengeance, the Nara ally themselves with the Yakuza, Japan’s powerful criminal overlords.
One woman, Tomoe, desires the leadership of the Nara warriors, and her fighting skills are such that none can challenge her. But skill alone is not enough to lead. She learns, with difficulty, that the Nara only follow whomever, and whenever, they choose. Before she can bring the Nara, and their corrupt allies, to victory against their common foes, she must earn their respect.
This mini-series interacts with Crusade’s other main character, Shi. Tomoe’s story strongly influences events in that book, beginning with Shi: The Way of the Warrior #6.
