Mark Hazzard: Merc

    (Marvel, 1986-1987)
Marvel

Mark’s parents were stunned when he dropped out of West Point to fight as an infantryman in Viet Nam. He took the most dangerous duties he could find, serving a total of three tours. After that, he realized he was addicted to life on the edge, and became a soldier of fortune.

His chosen profession has cost him the love of his parents, his marriage, and has endangered his relationship with his son. The worst casualty is his conscience, for Mark likes to see himself as one of the good guys. However, it’s all too often that he realizes that the people he works for are no better than the people he fights. When that happens, Mark rewrites the rules of the game.

Written by The Incredible Hulk’s Peter David, Mark Hazard: Merc was easily one of the best of Marvel’s New Universe line of comics.
