Underground titles usually never shy away from toilet humor, and Midvale relishes in it. Featuring stories written and drawn by Brad Carlton, Midvale makes no apologies for its gross-outs. In the second issue, a tale called “Midvale Thai” features a man devouring hot, spicy Oriental food and discovers how painful it is to digest as flames erupt from his behind in the bathroom. A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle makes an appearance in Midvale # 2’s opening tale, “It’s a Wonderful Christmas Carol,” inspiring one of the series’ cleanest jokes: “Please don’t sue me…I’m just a poor struggling cartoonist who’s trying to eke out a meager living.”
