The dread sorcerer Darkos and his Skulkers threaten the realm. In an unprecedented move, both humans and elves have joined forces to combat them. Stormcrest, the elf warrior, has left his home and his mate, Mara, behind as he goes off to war. He joins the forces of Prince Redhawk, who, with his father Ironhawk dying, now leads the human forces. Together they will fight against the Tower of Darkos and the Skulker camps on the Weeping Plains.
But even as battle looms for the men, the women have troubles of their own. Mara, now with child, entreated Stormcrest to avoid the battle. In the human encampment, things were stranger still: Redhawk’s betrothed, Nena, finds herself strangely attracted to a woman…a woman who in reality is Sebronia, sometimes called the Gauntlet because of her metal-encased hand. Sebronia is in reality a being of great magic…and her love for Nena may save or destroy Redhawk’s realm.
