When people speak of “the law of the jungle,” they are usually referring to a state of primal anarchy. But the jungles of Bandalla do have a law—one that supersedes tribal warfare, government corruption, or rebel insurgencies. For even the most callous criminals know that to ply their trade in Bandalla means to risk the wrath of the Ghost Who Walks—the Phantom.

Lee Falk’s classic hero is a refreshing symbol of good battling evil in today’s more cynical comic scene. Urged on by the success of mini-series The Phantom (2nd Series), DC launched this ongoing Phantom title in 1989. Unfortunately, it proved only a modest success, and ran just 13 issues before folding in 1990.
