Captain Marvel (1st Series)

“Captain Marvel” is actually a bit of a misnomer. His full, real name was Captain Mar-Vell, officer of the Intergalactic Kree Fleet. Sent to Earth to investigate the destruction of ancient an Kree sentry by the Fantastic Four, he winds up siding with humanity against all manner of perils, including invasion by his own race.

Adopting the identity of Dr. Walt Lawson, his early adventures centered around Cape Canaveral, home of the U.S. space program at that time. Interestingly enough, the chief of security at that time was one Ms. Carol Danvers, who much later would gain similar super-powers, becoming known to the world as Ms. Marvel.
