Violent Messiahs: Lamenting Pain

Lieutenant Cheri Major and Ernest Houston survived the death of Citizen Pain and the destruction of Rankor Island’s historic North End Mansion. Now the city is in riots, seeking someone who will go forth into the night and give criminals the beatings and death they deserve. . . and Scalpel is happy to take the job. The mayor and the commissioner of police are at their wits end, so the call goes out to Lt. Major to take a break from her psychotherapy and come back to her job in the Violent Messiahs unit. But Cheri’s not only confronting the problems of facing a society being destabilized by mysterious authority figures, she’s also picking up the pieces of her own past as well.

This is a mini-series of sorts, following up the events of the main Violent Messiahs’ first eight issues (The Book of Job). It's shorter, deeper, and possibly a little more violent than the first eight issues.
