Clash
(DC, 1991)
©1991 by Tom Veitch and Adam Kubert
It is impossible not to compare Joe McClash to Indiana Jones. Both brave danger in exotic locales for the sake of ancient artifacts. Both had fathers who neglected them, so involved were they in their own quest for ancient treasure. Both had a way with women.
But there the comparisons stop. Joe McClash (“Clash” to his friends) is callous and uncaring, willing to sacrifice anyone or anything in his quest for power. He uses people and he takes what he wants. Someday, he swears, he’ll be king of the world.
Now Clash might just get the chance. A rare architectural find in Afghanistan reveals a vast underground city, and a source of awesome power. Under the dead eyes of the city’s inhabitants, Clash uses ancient machinery to imbue himself with super-human power. When he emerges from the ruins, this young man will make the world tremble.
