Clyde Crashcup

In 1958, Ross Bagdasarian, under the moniker of David Seville, created Alvin and the Chipmunks. By 1961, the recording act’s popularity was so great that an animated series was created initially for primetime and later for Saturday morning TV. Though the bulk of the show contained stories and songs featuring the furry trio, an additional segment was created specifically for the series starring Inventor Clyde Crashcup. Crashcup’s specialty was to invent some common ordinary household item such as soap, which was already invented, and claim it as his own.
