Johnny Dynamite

™ and ©1994 Max Allan Collins and Terry Beatty

Max Collins and Terry Beatty’s Johnny Dynamite is a terrific series which mixes hardboiled detective fiction with a smoldering tale of the occult. Johnny Dynamite was an up-and-coming prizefighter whose career was derailed by a term of duty in Korea which left him with a leg full of shrapnel. He used his reputation to become a police officer, but made the mistake of arresting a powerful mobster. Practically before he could blink, he was left working the worst beat in town with no chance of promotion. That’s when he decided to become a private detective. Although another run-in with the mob had cost him an eye, it was a profitable living chasing down adulterous husbands and petty crime…

…until a blonde from his past appeared in his office, asking for protection from the man who had cost Dynamite his career. The next day, the blonde was dead, and Dynamite set off to find her killer in the strangest case of his career.
