Ray Palmer’s life had been strange ever since he used the remnants of a white dwarf star to build the device that let him become the Atom. But things get even stranger for the diminutive hero in this four-issue mini-series.

The pressures of Palmer’s unique lifestyle had taken a toll on his marriage to Jean Loring. One night, Ray found his wife in the arms of another man. He decided to escape his problems by going “on vacation” for six weeks to find another white dwarf star remnant in South America. Unfortunately, the pilots of the plane he was using were running a drug operation, and when Ray’s search got too close, they decided to kill him. Ray used his size-changing powers to overwhelm his attackers—but then lightning struck the plane, shorting out Ray’s size controls and causing the plane to crash into the dense rain forest. Stuck at six inches, Ray then discovered the strangest thing of all: a miniature civilization in the midst of the jungle!
