Marvel Milestone Edition: X-Men
(Marvel, 1991, 1993-1994)
™ and ©1991 Marvel Entertainment Group, Inc.
The Marvel Milestone series reprints the most famous stories from the Marvel Comics’ early days. With the exception of the front covers, these were exact, page-for-page facsimiles of the original editions, complete with the original ads.
Among the issues reprinted in this series is X-Men (1st Series) #1, the debut of Professor Charles Xavier and his extraordinary students, the X-Men. The original X-Men consisted of five members: the Beast, Iceman, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, and the Angel. The members were teenagers with mutated genes which gave them “X”-tra powers over normal humans. As a rule mutants were not accepted by society. This prejudice turned some mutants against mankind, and so it is that Magneto, the X-Men’s first and most powerful enemy, is introduced in the first issue.
