Honk!

Honk! was Fantagraphics’ attempt to do something in the mold of Mad but with one critical difference. In between the typical humorous comic book stories and parodies, a serious interview with a prominent cartoonist of the day was featured with many examples of their work. Cartoonists include Don Martin, Matt Groening, and Bill Watterson discussing their varied experience in comic books, comic strips and animation. The series was very well received, but short-lived as Fantagraphics soon canceled this with the impossibly titled Centrifugal Bumble Puppy, which was essentially the same magazine minus the interviews.
