Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel is Carol Danvers, a former security chief at NASA, who first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #13. Later, she would play a supporting role in the Captain Marvel series, although the events of that series would ultimately cause her to lose her job. Before leaving NASA, however, it seems that she had been unknowingly irradiated by the Kree’s Psyche-Magnetron device—a device which gave her the powers of Ms. Marvel.

As this series opens, Carol is slowly discovering her new powers and using them to fight crime. In her identity as Carol Danvers, she has become a women’s magazine editor and has placed herself at the forefront of the battle for women’s rights. That battle plays a strong role in both the plot and the editorial direction of the Ms. Marvel series.
