Conan the King

Beginning with issue #20, and continuing until its conclusion with issue #55, King Conan ran under the new title Conan the King. It continued the adventures of the former barbarian, now having risen to become the lord of Aquilonia.

This second phase of the series concentrated more heavily on the conflict between Conan’s two sons, Conn and Taurus. Taurus was second-born, less courageous, and athletically inferior to his brother, and was accordingly less favored by his father. This embittered him, and he turned to dark magicks in order to gain a measure of revenge. He even went so far as to ally himself with a sorcerer who sought to slay his father and older brother. Ultimately, his treachery was revealed and he was defeated, but not before bringing untold woe to his family.
