Telepath and teacher Charles Xavier has disbanded his X-Men. When the Mannites—a group of mutant children—are threatened by a mysterious slayer called Death, then Cyclops, Phoenix, Wolverine, Archangel, X-Man, and Cable form a new team of X-Men to protect the youngsters from what appears to be their certain doom. This three-issue limited series picks up after the events of the X-Men storyline “The Shattering” and explores the need for the team and the significance of its mission to rid the world of discrimination against mutants—the so-called “children of the atom.”
