Casper the Friendly Ghost is one of the most successful and memorable characters to spring from the pages of comics, starring in innumerable television cartoons, movie trailers, and even a special-effects-heavy live action film in the 1990s. Casper, the goofy, good-natured ghost is also the signature character of the Harvey publishing enterprise—a bona-fide franchise in itself and a perennial favorite with young boys and girls for over forty years.
Casper’s original run in comics began in the late 1940s, and was taken over by Harvey with issue #7, 1952. Throughout the 1950s, the Casper comic book introduced the familiar cast of characters, including Baby Huey, Spooky, and Wendy, the Good Little Witch.
