Sunglasses After Dark

Vampires, punk rockers, street gangs, corrupt televangelists, magic switchblades, and Jim Morrison are mixed up, shaken, and poured out into this Verotik Comics mini-series. Adapting the first novel by later Swamp Thing writer Nancy A. Collins, “Sunglasses After Dark” is about schizophrenic undead punk chick Sonja Blue. Born wealthy and spoiled, Sonja is eventually turned against her will into a vampire. She stands out from regular vampires because she is not affected by sunlight (which has something to do with the way she was first transformed into one of the undead).
While searching for a missing heiress, anti-hero Sonja takes on a strange female televangelist and lots of things that go bump in the night. Artist Stan Shaw takes a chance with some unusual artwork, an extremely abstract style with cubist leanings that does not often appear in American comics.
