Stanley and His Monster (2nd Series)

    (DC, 1993)
™ and ©1993 DC Comics, Inc.

DC took the storyline about a bright boy and his seven-foot-tall purple monster (which ran in Fox and the Crow in the mid-1960s) and updated it for the ’90s in this hilarious new series.

The monster, who in the first series was merely wandering the world looking for a safe place to hide from humanity, is now cast as an escapee from Hell. The monster, however, is still the best friend a kid could have, since he can carry off piles of lumber (for a tree house) and he tells the scariest stories (demon stories, of course.)

It’s a pity it only ran as a four-part mini-series because this ’90s version of a boy and his demon is loaded with charm.
