Transformers: Movie Prequel

IDW’s four-part Transformers: The Official Movie Prequel mini-series holds a rather unique place in comic-book history, as it is literally the only official place to get the story on what happens directly before the events of the 2007 summer movie Transformers.

That means that, for Transformers fans, it’s presumably the only glimpse of Cybertron (the Transformers’ home planet) and its history to be seen in the movie continuity. It’s also the first place that the movie designs of the characters officially debut, and although these designs were a constant source of debate on the internet, longtime Transformers artist Don Figueroa does a striking job of adapting the movie versions of Bumblebee, Megatron, and more into comic-book form, as well as presenting some characters, like the female Transformer Arcee, who just didn’t make it to the final cut of the movie.

The first issue of the Transformers prequel was also published in a black and white only variant.
