Over two centuries ago, a paradise world called Galador sent out an armada of ships to spread its gifts of wisdom and technology throughout the galaxy. But in a dark, unexplored nebula, the armada encountered the evil of the Dire Wraiths. Using a combination of technology and sorcery, the Wraiths destroyed their would-be benefactors, and then set course to destroy Galador itself.

To save Galador, hundreds of brave volunteers forsook their own humanity to become spaceknights—gleaming warriors who fought off the Wraith threat and pursued them across the galaxy. Now, ROM, the greatest of the spaceknights, has arrived on Earth. There he discovers that Dire Wraiths have used their shape-shifting abilities to worm their way into human society. With his neutralizer gun, ROM can banish them to Limbo. But to human eyes, their banishment appears to be a fiery death. Thus both humans and Wraiths rise up against their erstwhile savior.
