Invisible People
(Kitchen Sink, 1992, 1998, 2000)
™ and ©1992 Will Eisner
Invisible People is a three-issue series of stories that deals with the themes of alienation and isolation. The first issue, “Sanctum,” is about a man who becomes so isolated from the world around him that he is accidentally reported as dead. The second issue, “The Power,” relates the story of a faith healer striving for importance. The last issue, “Mortal Combat,” is concerned with a man whose life is being controlled by his mother and girlfriend. Will Eisner presents a compelling exploration of city life and modern apathy. Eisner’s graphic skill is at the top of its form here, and his cartooning is marvelous. A terrific read, and a great example of the joys a well-crafted comic can bring.
