Elementals (Vol. 1)

The Elementals are a loose band of super-heroes from the Comico world. Created by Bill Willingham, they first appeared in the Justice Machine annual. In that story, four regular people were chosen to become super-powered heroes, modeled on the four elder forces of nature. The green-skinned Fathom represents water; Vortex represents air; Monolith draws powers from the earth; and Morningstar has powers based on fire. Although this first series treads through many standard super-hero plots, Willingham always gave the Elementals an extra dimension of reality and characterization which made the series special.
