Canada has had a lively comics publishing industry since the 1940s, but the first visible product of it in the United States was Captain Canuck, a super-hero popular during the 1970s. Dressed in a patriotic red and white costume with a maple leaf insignia on his mask, Captain Canuck kept the Great White North safe from criminals, terrorists, and other bad-guys with his superhuman strength, speed, and agility.

Artist Jean-Claude St. Aubin synthesized the styles of several popular artists into a fun, decorative and colorful look for the Captain, as well as for the fantasy-based backup story, “Beyond.”
