Ectokid

Ectokid is a creation of horror writer Clive Barker. Set in New Orleans, a city known equally for jazz and voodoo, it stars Dex Mungo, a young boy and petty thief.

While ripping off tourists one day at a local hotel, he was invited into a room by three gorgeous women. Dex fell under their spell and into their embrace. When he opened his eyes, however, he saw them as ghastly supernatural creatures. The vision cleared, but Dex fled, hotly pursued by others who appeared alternately as men and demons.

This is how Dex came to discover both his heritage and his own special ability. Dex’s mother, it seems, had mated with a ghost to produce Dex. As a result, Dex has ties to both our world and the world beyond. Through his right eye, he sees the world as we know it, but through his left, he sees the parallel ghost world of spirits and demons.
