Popeye (Harvey)

Popeye as a character has been around for over 75 years and as a comic book character, has been published by almost as many publishers. In the early 90s, Harvey Comics took a stab at the sailor man, which was an interesting event, as Harvey was the longtime publisher of Casper the Friendly Ghost. Both Casper and Popeye were Paramount’s Famous Studios’ most popular characters, but in their animated heyday, Dell published Popeye, while Casper was at St. John. Now, for a brief time, they were published under the same roof.
