Marvel decided to adopt a looseleaf format for 1990s “Master” edition of the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. In light of the explosion of new characters, this seemed an eminently practical move. Still, it takes an awfully large binder hold the thirty-six issues of this ambitious index.

Each new installment of the series contained an assortment of pages containing the biographies, illustrations, and vital statistics on various Marvel characters. While it did not try to cover as broad a range of characters as previous editions, the Master Edition gave thorough information on the characters it did cover.
