This special edition is a collection of illustrations and paintings about the X-Men as they have appeared over the years in Marvels, Uncanny X-Men, The New Mutants, Wolverine, and various X-titles. The artwork for this edition was created by Alex Ross, Andy Kubert, Matt Ryan, Paul Mounts, Tony Harris, Bob Larkin, Bill Sienkiewicz, Ken Steacy, Jim Lee, Collin MacNeil, and Jae Lee. The art is poster-sized so the readers can pull it out and pin it up.

Marvel also gave the “Hot Shots” treatment to the Avengers several months before this January, 1996 edition with their Hot Shots: Avengers.
