The future is a damnable place under the rule of Apocalypse, but perhaps Rachel Summers can change that. In this limited series, Rachel Summers must control the Phoenix Force coursing through her being or risk being discovered and failing her mission, leaving the world to die at the hands of Apocalypse.

Having remained secluded in his stronghold for over a year, Apocalypse now prepares to don newly created armor to contain his unfathomable power. He has also been hard at work creating powerful new weapons, which threaten both mutants and humans.

Meanwhile Councilor Diamanda Nero continues to hunt down mutants and absorb their abilities increasing her powers with each life she takes. And the secret group known as The Order of Witnesses emerges from the shadows sending Diogenes Chang to watch over Rachel Summers who may be even more important than anyone previously imagined.
