She-Hulk (2nd Series)

Dan Slott slugged it out on all-ages titles (those frequently ignored books that often top their “mainstream” counterparts) for years, and broke into the super-audience’s consciousness with Arkham Asylum: Living Hell. Based on his reputation from that, She-Hulk got a little more attention than the rest of the deluge of titles Marvel released in 2004, and he delivered with an actual premise and direction enjoyably executed. Juan Bobillo instantly became an integral half of the book’s draw, and the book drew ire from fans when he left. She-Hulk was given some time to wrap things up and shut down in order to reboot.

It’s a crockpot model, and it’s not a bad idea: let the legend grow, then return to glory. It works pretty well, though a few of the status changes seem unnecessarily withdrawn. Still, these two are the freshest faces at Marvel that are consistently enjoyable, and they make the book everything a She-Hulk comic should be: a fun bit of pop adventure.
