Rampaging Hulk

    (Marvel, 1998-1999)
™ and ©1998 Marvel Characters, Inc.

In an effort to capitalize on the popularity of The Incredible Hulk, which had achieved much greatness during Peter David’s twelve-year tenure as writer, Marvel launched this second Hulk title in 1998, with writer Glenn Greenberg and artist Rick Leonardi at the helm. Essentially an “Untold Tales” series, The Rampaging Hulk was set in the early years of the Green Goliath’s—uh—career, when he was still in his savage, “Hulk smash” state of mind. An interesting idea with all the major supporting players of the day—General “Thunderbolt” Ross, Betty Ross Talbot, and Major Glenn Talbot—in place, but Marvel’s financial woes, as well as the generally depressed condition of the comic book marketplace, forced the cancellation of this promising new series with its seventh issue.
