In the Carinan Cluster, you can immediately identify telepaths by their golden eyes. By the age of seven, the telepaths are removed from their family and trained to use their powers for law and justice. Sinjin Quarrel’s weaker-than-average telepathic powers doomed him to an unexceptional career and obscurity until the Starlord’s ship picked him up and recruited him to find Starlord, who has mysteriously disappeared.

Quarrel has to contend with a variety of other disasters and tasks during his quest, including having to expose a villain as a secret telepath, protect a civilization from an erupting volcano, and learn how to use the starship’s advanced technology. This is classic science fiction, in the veins of Star Trek and Star Wars.
