Tales of the Marvel Universe

™ and ©1996 Marvel Characters, Inc.

At the climax of the Onslaught saga, Earth’s mightiest heroes—the Fantastic Four, The Avengers, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and countless others—gave their lives in order to stop Onslaught and to save the world. With them gone, it seems that even the Marvel Universe has gone quiet. All that’s left is to pick up the pieces.

Tales of the Marvel Universe takes place in that quiet time between when the heroes were believed dead and when they would make their inevitable return. This one-shot title contains a variety of stories wherein those that remain take care of old business. Ka-Zar feels the loss even in the Savage Land; the friends of the Fantastic Four hatch a scheme to keep their equipment from being impounded by the government; Rhodey (War Machine) hatches a similar scheme to prevent Fujikawa from learning all of Tony Stark’s secrets; and Doctor Strange learns that the heroes are not truly dead.
