Team America

    (Marvel, 1982-1983)
™ and ©1982 Ideal Toy Corporation

Springing from the pages of Captain America #269, Team America is a group of individuals, drawn together by a strange link and a determination to earn victory for their country. The mysterious “fourth member” of this team is the black-clad Marauder, a character who assembles the team, but whose identity is not known to them.

The team competes in a sport known as “unlimited class racing”—motorcycle racing with no restrictions as to horsepower or technological advancements. It’s said to be the ultimate test of men and machines, and Team America is the best there is.

Although it’s primarily about racing, the series featured everyone from Iron Man to the agents of Hydra in its rather short twelve-issue lifespan. The original concept for the team comes from a line of toys from Ideal Toy Corporation.
