This title began as an interlude in The Infinity Crusade. Adam Warlock had been essentially split in two, and his female side, calling herself the Goddess, had dispatched him to a far dimension. While lying unconscious, Warlock’s Soul Gem speaks to two denizens of this dimension, telling them of Warlock’s strange origin.
The Soul Gem is a thing of great power, a sentience which lives in a symbiotic relationship with its wearer. It decided that Warlock was too hard to control, however, and was ready to move into a new host when Warlock awakened. Placing the gem back into his forehead, he was ready to rejoin the battle against the Goddess.
