Venom: Tooth and Claw

    (Marvel, 1996-1997)
™ and ©1997 Marvel Characters, Inc.

Tooth and Claw was ostensibly an excuse to match up Spider-Man foe Venom with claw-wielding mutant Wolverine. It’s apparently also an excuse for writer Larry Hama to get really silly and have some fun.

The trouble begins in this three-issue mini-series when Venom gets on the trail of Dirt Bag, a mutant shapeshifter who “eats” the souls and forms of his victims. Along the way, he crosses paths with Wolverine, a tough-talking, kid gunsel named Emmett, a female symbiote, and two kids with skateboards. This whole menagerie is chasing Dirt Bag, while simultaneously being chased by Chimera, a bondage gear-clad vixen who commands a crew of plasma wraiths.

Confused? We suspect from the offbeat tone of this series that you were meant to be. With Venom: Tooth and Claw, it might be better to just sit back and enjoy the ride.
