The team of writer Doug Moench and Paul Gulacy was one of the most heralded creative duos of the 70s for their groundbreaking work on Master of Kung Fu. Master of Kung Fu was ahead of its time as Moench’s adult scripts and Gulacy’s cinematic art predated Frank Miller’s similarly revolutionary makeover on Daredevil in the early 80s. In this reunion for Marvel’s MAX imprint, Moench and Gulacy bring martial-arts hero Shang-Chi into the 21st century. Retired from his British Intelligence days and living in a monastery, Chi is thrust into the spy game once again after Saint Germain, the inheritor of Chi’s father’s evil empire, kidnaps an old flame.
