Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends

    (Marvel, 1981)
™ and ©1981 Marvel Comics Group

In the early 1980s, children stayed glued to their television sets on Saturday morning, anxiously awaiting the cartoon show Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. The show featured the famous wall-crawler and two of Marvel Comics’ mutant heroes, Firestar and Iceman.

Of course, Marvel Comics also published a comic book by the same name to accompany its animated counterpart. In this one-shot, the three young super-heroes battled the infamous Green Goblin. The book’s highlight is undoubtedly the scene where the three young heroes go to a costume party, each dressed as a different super-hero. Iceman goes as Captain America, Firestar goes as Spider-Woman and Spider-Man goes as, well…Spider-Man. The three must quickly return to their own costumes, however, when the Green-Goblin shows up.
