Marvel’s Ultimate titles took long–established characters back to basics, starting over so that newer readers wouldn’t have to figure out decades of continuity (and newer writers and artists could “create” characters like the Ultimate X-Men). Working under the direction of the U.S. government, the Ultimates are the revamped version of the Avengers.

After their much–publicized victories over the rampaging Hulk and the alien Skrulls, the Ultimates are sitting on top of the world, enjoying super–celebrity status usually reserved for movie stars and pop singers. But being in the public eye can definitely have it’s downside, as the team is about to discover… as not only their role in the world’s unstable political/military arena is questioned, but the Hulk’s secret ties to the team are discovered. And, possibly worst of all, like all celebrities even their own interpersonal relationships become a matter of public scrutiny.
