Baron Helmut Zemo is a complex character. Son of Captain America nemesis Heinrich Zemo, Helmut has always lived in his father’s shadow, most of the time as a villain. Recently reformed while leading the Thunderbolts, Helmut has been missing for months. Cue doctoral student Wendell Volker. Volker is working on a thesis examining the Zemo Barony. He has no way of knowing that Helmut Zemo has been thrown into the past, bouncing from century to century, drawn to powerful Zemo barons in his family line. As Volker researches the Zemo family in the present, Helmut comes to know generations of them in the past. As Helmut jumps slowly towards the present, Volker’s true agenda is revealed. Will Zemo reach the present? What will he learn from generations of Zemos? Is he hero or villain? And is he truly… born better?
