Ultimate Nightmare

Shortly after the turn of the twentieth century, an indefinable alien power blasted a crater into the Russian countryside and cursed the land around it. One hundred years later, the power appears to be rising again as televisions all over the planet are bombarded with images of alien cataclysm that deeply affects the people of Earth. Something is coming, and it’s going to be huge. All of this prompts Nick Fury to send a team of Ultimates to investigate the energies emanating from the Russian crater, while Professor Charles Xavier dispatches a few of his X-Men to look into the psychic ramifications of the rising nightmare. Sure, it’s a big ol’ team–up story that introduces a new Ultimate version of a longstanding Marvel character, but it’s written by Warren Ellis and drawn by Trevor Hairsine, and it’s tailor–made for fanboy enjoyment.
