1000 Steps to World Domination

Rob Osborne’s alter ego makes his intentions pretty clear from the start in this collection of his black and white mini–comics: he wants to rule the world. Unfortunately, it's a tough chore when your day job is oppressive, your friends and family are less than supportive, and you’re constantly mocked by a chimp wearing a derby hat. So as the series progresses, his laser–like focus on conquest digresses into such topics as saucer alien ennui, “The War of Art” (“If the cartoonist’s victory is long delayed, then pencils are blunted and spirits low.”) and whether power is better expressed through mathematics or wearing an eye–patch. The comics are evenly divided between multi–panel storylines (if five pages can be considered a storyline) and autarkic gags that are almost Dadaist in their surrealness. Of course, none of this means they aren't funny.
