Vault of Evil

    (Marvel, 1973-1975)
Marvel

It seems that about every two decades, horror comics become all the rage. In the early 1970s, horror was hot, and Marvel blitzed the market with a slew of titles, including Chamber of Chills, Supernatural Thrillers, Crypt of Shadows, and Fear. Like many of these, Vault of Evil relied on reprint material from its 1950s precursor, Atlas comics (no relation to the 1970s indie publisher). Its tales were the usual mix of werewolves, ancient curses, and monsters; and always the evildoers got their just desserts in a satisfyingly horrifying fashion.
