Sgt. Fury

Long before he became “Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD,” Ma Fury’s little boy was the leader of the Howling Commandos, the legendary fighting force of World War II. Comprised of a colorful band of fellow warriors, including future SHIELD agents Gabriel Jones and Dum-Dum Dugan, the Howlers inflicted untold destruction on the Nazi forces.

During one mission in France, Fury was gravely wounded and came under the emergency care of Professor Berthold. Berthold inoculated him with an experimental “Infinity Formula” which slowed his aging process (which helps to explain how Fury is still going strong in the current day).
