Arthur Dent always did have a problem with the universe, especially on Thursday. One particular Thursday found him laying down in front of a bulldozer that was about to plow over his house to make way for a new byway. Then, as if that weren’t bad enough, his best friend, Ford Prefect, stopped by and revealed (a) that Ford was really an alien researcher for an intergalactic encyclopedia, and (b) the Earth was going to be destroyed by a Vogon constructor fleet in just a few minutes. None of this made Arthur feel better about Thursdays.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy follows Arthur and Ford as they narrowly escape the destruction of the Earth and embark on a series of wild (and often ridiculous) adventures. Their story has been told in an astonishingly popular series of books, radio, and television shows by writer Douglas Adams. It now makes its way to comic form in this three-issue prestige series.
