From the creator of the hit manga Fushigi Yugi comes this post-modern comedic school story take on such classic girl stories as Anne of Green Gables and Pollyanna: Country girl Tampopo’s uncompromising positive thinking gets a workout, when she enters the prestigious Mejo Academy.

There, she instantly earns the contempt of the whole student body, members of which are about as warm and cuddly as French aristocrats, by actually having earned her way into the institution. But she stays safely under their radar until she finds Kouki, the dark prince of the school, mooning over a dandelion.

Sick of the legions of sycophants and parasites trying to use him and his rich family connections, Kouki’s become a misanthrope who prefers plants over people. So, naturally, he wants nothing to do with Tampopo or her innocent offers of friendship, which just makes her want it all the more. Yu Watase burnishes this high unlikely, wafer-thin, simple-girl-pursues-rich-boy premise with nice screwball romance spins that make it predictable (but lively) fun.
