America of 2020 was not a very nice place in which to live. A world already dying of hunger was ravaged by multiple energy crises and a nine-year drought. Later, a biological weapon was inadvertently released into the atmosphere. Nuclear spillage had rendered the entire states of Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Rhode Island uninhabitable. In the end, as terrorism and violence destroyed the last vestiges of the “civilized world,” the government retreated to a central fortress.

Now led by a cyborg called the Overseer, what’s left of authority leads with an iron fist. Prisons and concentration camps keep the populace in line, and heavily armed forces strike down any trace of rebellion. But even then, there were still those, lead by a poetic renegade named Sabre, who dare to fight back. A remarkable comic by Paul Gulacy and Don McGregor, Sabre is the tale of the struggle for freedom in a world gone mad.
